wwmd? mounting mishap
I brought into the shop a pair of hell bents and dukes. They drilled for a small duke but have a large. Im not sure what I should do. I have a 317 bsl and the small duke will max out at 320. They said they will give me a smaill duke if I wanted. But I feel that having the heel maxed out in the casing compromises the binding. I am not sure. So what do you guys think? Should I have them re-drill for the large or should I go with the small. I dont think they are willing to give me a fresh pair of skis I am trying though. THANKS

I would take the small Dukes.
As others have written here, you can get up to a 325 into the small.
Smaller footprint, more natural flex (though this probably has less effect on a reverse camber ski).
I don't think there would be any problem putting your boot in the small regarding reliability.

There's not a ton you can do, but the shop should make things right.
If they're selling Dukes in the shop, they've got customers that would be interested in a reduced cost pair of Hell Bents with small binders. All they need to do is cover the cost on a new pair of K2s for you and your larges.
This way, they'd end up with 2 happy customers.
One thing I'd take into consideration is potential resale. If they are 179's, drop down to the smalls if the shop doesn't budge. But if they are 189's, I think the bigger binder could make an easier sale down the road.

Awedor,
At our shop we sold out of smalls fast and had larges left over at the end. I think that smalls are the hotter property so the shop is trying to do right by the customer.
Lots of small boots out there, like in the "how tight are your boots?" thread.

your skis will actually perform better with a small, not to mention that they will resell with a higher value than larges.

I would make them give you new skis....you didn't bring the Hellbents in with extra holes, so why would you come out? You have to think re-sale. Also, everyone is stating to get the smalls for better resale, but I think as also stated it depends on the size of the skis.
Anyway, long story short, get new skis...make them do this. If they are a good shop, they will fix their problem. They can sell the "predrilled skis" to another customer for 50 bucks off.
